A PROGRAM FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AGED 16-24, YOUTH ORGANISATIONS AND COMMUNITY GROUPS.

South Derbyshire Volunteer Force's Youth Shape initiative seeks to provide opportunities for young people aged 16 - 24 to engage with Youth Social Action locally, through volunteering.  The program not only allows you to have a voice and make a difference but also provides training to develop existing and learn new skills which leads to AIM certification, which you can add to your CV and or reference in your UCAS University Application.

As part of the initiative South Derbyshire Volunteer Force offers training and workshops on such topics as:

  • what is volunteering and myth-busting

  • how to engage in volunteering

  • teamwork and leadership

  • equity, diversity, and inclusion (including stereotypes and unconscious bias).

In addition, South Derbyshire Volunteer Force will guide and support young people to complete a social action project, for example, to arrange an event to raise awareness and or fundraise, to build a social media campaign, to complete community volunteering.

Youth Shape can be embedded into uniformed youth organisation programs, youth group sessions, or run as a  standalone program at community venues.  Our Youth Shape facilitators would be happy to talk to you about how we can embed the program to provide meaningful engagement opportunities for young people.
