In August, we ran our first Youth Shape Volunteering Project.
Day One saw our group of fourteen (14) enthusiastic and passionate young people from around the district working hard towards their Gateway to Youth Volunteering Certificate. This included a morning of learning followed by an afternoon hearing about and supporting our food bank.
Day Two was the Summer Food Drive. Our amazing youth volunteers (aged 16-19) promoted the work of our food bank and collected food and cash donations at Morrisons Swadlincote.
Thank you to everyone who supported them by donating, we managed to collect a large amount of items, including, a range of Gluten Free and Vegan alternatives, allowing us to now support those who may have specific dietary requirements of food intolerances.
We also collected £66 in cash donations which will be utilised for replenishing stocks when low.
Massive thanks for the support of Morrisons Swadlincote Community Champion.
