Digital technology is evolving, the way we communicate with each other is changing, and more services are going online.
 

However, not everyone has the digital skills to be able to access these services, or the know-how to use a digital device, which is resulting in increased social isolation and disparities in healthcare, education, job opportunities, and access to essential goods and services.

 

While we fully embrace the incredible technological advancements that make life easier, healthier, more efficient, and more enjoyable for most of us, it's important to recognise that not everyone is keeping pace. That’s why we need Digital Champions—to ensure no one gets left behind!

Therefore South Derbyshire CVS Volunteer Force is currently seeking to recruit a team of voluntary Digital Champions in South Derbyshire to help tackle the growing divide.
 

Our new volunteers will initially help us to deliver sessions, in community settings around South Derbyshire, to:
 

• Develop foundation-level digital skills and build confidence in using devices to access online services every day.

• Learn how to use the NHS Health APP and how to search for further information on managing health concerns or conditions using the internet.

• Learn how to research, identify, and access national and local services and support groups available, using the internet and social media.

• We will provide training and ongoing CPD, equipping you with the knowledge, skills, and necessary tools to succeed in your role.

• Ongoing support and supervision will be available to help you grow and enhance your volunteer skills.

• You will be a valued member of an initiative that has a meaningful impact on people's lives.

• Your contributions will be recognised and rewarded and we will provide a reference on request.

• The chance to meet new people, and reconnect with your local community alongside boosting your mental and physical well-being, and developing valuable wider skills to enhance your career prospects.

 

Eligibility

To be a Digital Champion you must be:

 

• Aged 18 years or over at the time of applying.

• A UK resident or have permission to live in the UK.

• Willing to authorise a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

​No matter your age or current digital skills we will offer the support and training necessary to enable you to make a difference.
