Fundraising Volunteer

This is an important role that will help enable Safe and Sound to attract financial support and donations.
Safe and Sound provides support to children, young people and families affected by child exploitation in Derby and Derbyshire, and works to improve knowledge and understanding of the issue nationally, to ensure that those affected receive the support they need to move forwards in their lives. Safe and Sound is now looking for committed individuals with some previous fundraising or marketing experience or who would like to gain experience, to help support our fundraising team.

What will you be doing?

• To help develop our corporate sponsorship packages for our fundraising events;
• To help promote the sponsorship packages by sourcing suitable organisations, making contact with the appropriate people and securing financial support;
• To source organisations and contacts to provide auction and raffle prizes;
• Communicating the importance of Safe and Sound and our fundraising activities and the benefits to sponsors and supporters in being involved with the event;
• Helping promote the event through our social media channels;
• Assisting with the creative arrangement of events.

What skills are required?

• An interest and commitment to support children and families affected by child exploitation;
• Good interpersonal skills; friendly, professional and have a persuasive manner;
• Excellent written and verbal skills;
• Self-motivated;
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills;
• Experience of managing simple databases in Excel;
• Knowledge of social media;
• Previous experience of working or volunteering in the not-for-profit sector or working in child protection/safeguarding (voluntary or statutory), is desirable but not essential;
• Previous experience in fundraising/event management is desirable but not essential.

Additional important information

Time commitment:
• Three to four hours a week
• The volunteering opportunity is ongoing but, as we provide in depth training and an enhanced DBS check, we would like you to commit to a minimum one year if at all possible;
• You will be invited to have regular review and support sessions;
• We require you to be punctual for each session;

We will provide:
• Agreed expenses which will be paid on a reimbursement basis: if this causes difficulties, we will make alternative arrangements;
• Uniform (if required) and identification;
• An enhanced DBS which will be completed before you can begin volunteering. We will cover this cost;
• A confidentiality agreement;
• A full induction programme volunteer handbook and regular 1-1 support.
