Outdoor Conservation and Maintenance Volunteer Leader
By joining our team of volunteer Leaders you would be making a positive impact on the environment and on people’s lives as they benefit from volunteering in lots of ways. Leading groups of volunteers (individuals and corporate groups) on basic site maintenance and corporate tasks.

Rosliston Forestry Centre, Burton Road, Rosliston Swadlincote Derbyshire DE12 8JX (possible other locations by prior agreement)

When?
Ad hoc depending on your availability but we have regular volunteering sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays plus bookings from groups on other days. November to March we only have our regular groups but from April to October there can be up to 1 extra day per week. We only take bookings if we know people are available to lead.

What will you be doing?
Leading groups of volunteers (individuals and corporate groups) on basic site maintenance and corporate tasks.
You will be happy and confident to work outside with groups of beginners and more experienced volunteers on tasks involving use of basic gardening and / or wood working tools.
You will be friendly and engaging and good at problem solving, trouble shooting and explaining things clearly.
Tasks will be agreed in advance and there will be opportunities for training. Tools and PPE provided and you will have the opportunity to contribute ideas into what tasks need doing, how and whether we need to borrow or buy additional tools.
What skills are required?
We’re looking for someone who has a combination of good DIY skills, practical leadership skills and a love / good knowledge of the environment and either grounds maintenance or environmental conservation.
If you have some but not all of these skills we’d also like to meet you because we work as a team and either support you to develop new skills or pick up the tasks you aren’t interested in between the rest of us!
