Food Bank Donation Collection Drivers

Suitable for Young Person

No

It’s a sad fact that many people within our community experience food poverty; that’s why our Food Hub strives to make sure that no one has to go hungry and we endeavour to reduce the stigma attached to people accessing a Food Bank.

In order to keep our Food Bank well stocked we urgently need local volunteers to pick up food donations from collection points across South Derbyshire and deliver them to our service centre which is located in Swadlincote.

Cancer Research UK

Shop Volunteer

Suitable for Young Person

Yes, 16+ (Recognised Schemes: Duke of Edinburgh (UK wide); Caritas - Scottish Catholic Education Service (Scotland); Boys Brigade; Welsh Baccalaureate (Wales); National citizen scheme (16+) (England); Industry Placements; Probation Service Only)

Our shop volunteers are helping us beat cancer right now.

In 2019/20, 14,000 volunteers gave 3.1 million hours of their time and sold items totalling £15million. These funds are helping us start new clinical trials and research treatments as we speak.

If you volunteer at a Cancer Research UK shop, you too could make a real difference to what we can achieve. Nothing we do would be possible without amazing volunteers like you.

You’ll also gain valuable skills to help develop your CV and experience. And you’ll volunteer alongside a wonderful team of passionate, friendly people who will support you every step of the way.

Volunteering is open to everyone and no experience is required. So, if you’re looking for a new challenge, we’d love to hear from you.

Tools with a Mission (TWAM)

Local Group Volunteer

Suitable for Young Person

No

A Local Group is a team of people who share our passion for livelihood creating tools and get together to collect tools from their area. Many also arrange tool collections at local supermarkets, DIY stores and garden centres. Many also offer talks to local community groups and even speak on local radio. Some groups sort the tools before arranging collection and some even do some refurbishment, such as grinding off rust and fixing loose handles. To start you need somewhere to store tools, such as a vacant garage or big shed and the enthusiasm to gather together likeminded friends. Our local groups have a great community spirit and are a huge support for TWAM.
